Mace Windu Lightsabers
A Mace Windu lightsaber recreates the Jedi Master's distinctive hilt and famous purple blade, and ours comes as a screen-accurate replica or a lighter build made for dueling.
The Windu is one of our most screen-accurate builds, made for collectors and cosplayers who want the closest thing to the lightsaber Master Windu carried on screen. The Windu SE is our modified version: lighter, with an improved grip and better balance for handling and dueling. Both blades change color, so you can run Windu's purple or any other color you like. These are collectible sabers inspired by Mace Windu, not official or licensed Star Wars products.
Who is Mace Windu?
Mace Windu is a Jedi Master and senior member of the Jedi High Council in the Star Wars prequel era. Samuel L. Jackson plays him in The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005), and returns as a voice cameo in The Rise of Skywalker (2019). In animation, Terrence C. Carson voices him in the Clone Wars micro-series (2003 to 2005), The Clone Wars series (2008 to 2014, 2020), and Tales of the Jedi (2022). He also appears in The Clone Wars animated film (2008).
In the films, Windu leads the Jedi into the Geonosis arena, where he kills the bounty hunter Jango Fett, and later goes to arrest Chancellor Palpatine after Anakin Skywalker tells him Palpatine is the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. That confrontation ends with Windu's death and pushes Anakin toward becoming Darth Vader. In the Legends novels, starting with Shatterpoint, Windu comes from the planet Haruun Kal, can sense "shatterpoints" (the weak points in a person or situation), and is the creator of Vaapad, an aggressive lightsaber fighting style that walks close to the dark side.
Mace Windu's lightsaber is purple, which makes it one of the most recognizable blades in the saga. Jackson has said he asked George Lucas for a purple saber so he could find himself in the huge Jedi battle in the Geonosis arena, even though Jedi blades on screen had been blue or green until then. Older Expanded Universe stories also give Windu an earlier blue-bladed saber, but in the films and animated series his blade is purple. In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker cuts off Windu's hand during the duel with Palpatine, and the Mace Windu light saber falls out of the Chancellor's office window to the city below.
One famous prop detail: the hilt Jackson received after filming had "BMF" on the activation button, a nod to his Pulp Fiction character. Jackson says he didn't ask for it. The Mace Windu lightsaber BMF engraving is not visible in the films, and our hilts are not engraved.

Which lightsaber does Mace Windu use in each film and series?
Windu carries one main purple-bladed saber across the prequel films and the animated series. Here is where it shows up and which of our builds fits each look.
| Appearance | What happens with his saber | Closest match |
|---|---|---|
| Attack of the Clones (2002) | The purple blade debuts in the Geonosis arena battle | Windu |
| The Clone Wars (2008 to 2020) | The same purple saber throughout the war | Windu or Windu SE |
| Revenge of the Sith (2005) | Duel with Palpatine; the saber is lost out the window | Windu |
| Your own duels | Not tied to one film | Windu SE |
Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith
The Mace Windu lightsaber hilt from the live-action films is a sleek, mostly metal design that Star Wars reference material describes as electrum-finished, paired with the purple blade. It first ignites in the Geonosis arena viewing box, where Windu confronts Count Dooku, and it is the blade he uses to defeat Jango Fett in the battle that follows. He carries the same saber into his final duel with Palpatine. If you want that on-screen look on your shelf or with a costume, the Windu is built to be as close to the prop as we make it.
The Clone Wars and Tales of the Jedi
The Clone Wars Mace Windu lightsaber is the same purple-bladed weapon from the films, and he wields it through years of battles in the animated series. In the earlier Clone Wars micro-series, he loses his lightsaber mid-battle and keeps fighting without it, one of the scenes that built his reputation as one of the strongest Jedi. He appears again in Tales of the Jedi (2022), with Terrence C. Carson returning as his voice.
Windu SE: our duel-ready take
The Windu SE is not tied to one film. It is our own modified version of the Windu design, made lighter, with an improved grip and better balance so it handles well in real swings and duels. Choose it if you want the Windu style for active use rather than an exact prop match.
