Neopixel Lightsabers
A neopixel lightsaber runs LEDs along the full length of the blade, so the glow stays even from hilt to tip and looks realistic.
Every neopixel saber at Lumasabers uses an SNV4 Pro or Proffie core, comes in a 32 or 36 inch blade, and suits display, filming, cosplay and light dueling.
What is a neopixel lightsaber?
A neopixel lightsaber, also referred to as a pixel lightsaber, is a lightsaber built with a neopixel core, which lights a strip of LEDs running the full length of the blade. A baselit saber (RGB or S-RGB) uses a single LED in the base instead. That difference is why a neopixel blade glows evenly from hilt to tip, and why neopixel cores add ignition styles and extra combat effects that baselit cores do not have. It can shimmer, pulse, shift colors, react to clashes, and create effects like blaster deflects or tip drag. A neopixel saber puts most of the visual magic in the blade itself. You get brighter, more even light and more detailed effects. That extra realism is the main appeal. For cosplay, display, fight scenes, fan films, and casual sparring, a neopixel saber can feel much more real than a baselit saber.
Our neopixel lightsabers come with one of two cores, SNV4 Pro or Proffie, explained below. For the full spec breakdown across every core, read our saber tech guide.
How do neopixel lightsabers work?
A neopixel lightsaber works as a system, not just a lit blade. In any lightsaber neopixel build, the core (the electronics board inside the hilt) drives the LED strip in the blade, plays the sound and triggers the effects.
The neopixel lightsaber blade
The blade is a heavy-grade polycarbonate tube with the LED strip inside, lit end to end. Neopixel blades come in 32 inch (our most popular length, balanced and easy to move) or 36 inch (closer to screen-accurate, less agile), in 7/8 inch or 1 inch thickness depending on the model.
The neopixel core
Both neopixel cores give you 12 customizable blade colors, 25 to 27 sound fonts, 11 to 25 ignition styles, and combat effects including blaster, locking, clash flash, melt, force and drag. The battery is rechargeable, takes about 4 hours to charge and lasts all day.
Baselit vs neopixel: which should you buy?
Choose neopixel for the most realistic blade, and baselit for heavy dueling.
| Baselit (RGB, S-RGB) | Neopixel (SNV4 Pro, Proffie) | |
|---|---|---|
| Blade lighting | One LED in the base, brightest at the base and fading toward the tip | LEDs along the full blade, with even brightness from base to tip |
| Sound fonts | 16 (RGB) or 27 (S-RGB) | 27 (SNV4 Pro) or 25 (Proffie) |
| Ignition styles | None | 11 (SNV4 Pro) or 25 (Proffie) |
| Combat effects | Blaster, locking, clash flash | Adds melt, force and drag |
| Dueling | Heavy dueling | Light dueling |
| Bluetooth app | S-RGB only | SNV4 Pro only |
| Charge time | About 2 hours | About 4 hours |
| Starting price | From about $103 | From about $188 |
Choose neopixel if you want a realistic blade for display, filming, cosplay and light sparring. Choose baselit if you duel hard and often, because the LED strip inside a neopixel blade can be damaged by high-impact strikes and is more expensive to replace. For full-contact dueling, shop our baselit lightsabers.
In our experience the difference shows the moment you power one on. Neopixel blades look remarkably realistic, get that “wow” reaction, and the quality stands out next to baselit.
SNV4 Pro vs Proffie: which neopixel core?
Choose SNV4 Pro for movie realism and easy setup out of the box, and Proffie if you're an experienced lightsaber collector wanting maximum customization. Both are neopixel cores, and they can be swapped without replacing the blade or hilt.
| SNV4 Pro | Proffie | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Screen-accurate lighting, easy setup | Maximum customization, advanced users |
| Sound fonts | 27, customizable | 25, customizable |
| Ignition styles | 11 | 25 |
| Combat effects | Blaster, locking, clash flash, melt, force, drag | Same |
| Bluetooth app | Yes (ForcePark V2 app) | No |
| Setup and tuning | Phone app | Direct programming |
| Starting price | From about $188 | From about $208 |
Choose SNV4 Pro if this is your first neopixel saber, you want to control sound, effects and settings from your phone, and you want it ready out of the box. Choose Proffie if you like to tinker, want customizable ignition styles, and are comfortable programming your own settings. Proffie is built on open-source software, so advanced users can go as deep as they like. On the same model, SNV4 Pro costs less than Proffie.
Which neopixel lightsaber should you buy?
Pick by how you will use it.
- First saber: an SNV4 Pro in a 32 inch blade. Most first-time buyers start with a screen-accurate replica on an SNV4 core.
- Display, filming and cosplay: any neopixel saber, with a 36 inch blade for closer screen accuracy.
- Light dueling: neopixel works. For a mix of movie looks and durability, see our hybrid sabers. For hard contact, see our combat dueling sabers.
- Customizing: a Proffie core.
Our two best sellers are the Anakin EP3 SE Lightsaber and the Luke V1 Lightsaber, and both are among our lowest-priced SNV4 Pro sabers.

How much does a neopixel lightsaber cost?
Neopixel lightsabers cost more than baselit because the core and the full-length LED strip are more advanced. SNV4 Pro sabers start at about $188 and run up to about $698, with a typical one starting in the low $300s. Proffie sabers start at about $208 and go up to about $778, with a typical one around $400. For comparison, baselit sabers start at about $103. The SE version of a saber is slightly cheaper than the original replica version.
Neopixel lightsaber care, battery and durability
The battery charges in about 4 hours and lasts all day. Proffie cores stay in standby by default, so remove the battery to fully power one off. The aluminum alloy hilt and polycarbonate blade (more impact-resistant than acrylic or PVC) handle normal use and light dueling, but hard strikes can damage the LED strip, so keep contact light and choose baselit for full-contact dueling. The 12-month warranty covers damage on arrival, soundboard failure and manufacturing defects, but not abuse or modification.
Neopixel lightsaber FAQ
Is a neopixel lightsaber good for dueling?
Yes, for light dueling. The LED strip inside a neopixel blade can be damaged by high-impact strikes, so choose a baselit saber (RGB or S-RGB) for heavy, full-contact dueling.
How long does a neopixel lightsaber battery last?
The rechargeable battery charges in about 4 hours and lasts all day. Proffie cores stay in standby until you remove the battery.
What is the best neopixel lightsaber for a beginner?
An SNV4 Pro saber in a 32 inch blade. The SNV4 Pro pairs with a Bluetooth app for sound, effects and settings, and 32 inch is the most popular, balanced length.
Should I get a 32 inch or 36 inch neopixel blade?
32 inch is the most popular, balanced and easy to move, and it is the safe default if you are unsure. 36 inch is closer to screen-accurate and suits taller users or anyone who wants extra reach in a duel, but it is less agile. The difference is 4 inches.
Can I change the blade color?
Yes. Neopixel cores include 12 preloaded colors you can customize. On an SNV4 Pro you change them in the app, and on a Proffie through direct programming.
Can I swap an SNV4 Pro core for a Proffie core?
The two cores can be swapped without replacing the blade or hilt since they are both neopixel.
